This September’s London Fashion Week has just wrapped up, and we went along for the ride to tell you all about it. As we all know, things have been a little different while we are still dealing with Covid-19. This year, London Fashion Week was half virtual and half physical shows. The online shows were much more accessible and in person shows had a limited capacity, so we’re here to tell you about both.
The British fashion council presented this year's Fashion Week as usual, bringing back their discoveryLab and NEWGEN shows. The digital presentations from the discovery lab can be watched online, such as British mustard and ANCIELA. The physical NEWGEN shows, presented us with amazing emerging talent.
One of our favourite shows at the NEWGEN show space was Labrum London. Labrum is most known for their menswear collections, featuring tailored pieces with African roots and influences. Not only was the NEWGEN show space incredible, with some amazing light installations, but the show included a live band to really set the mood.
London Fashion Week had its opening ceremony on the 16th of September, along with a lot of other launch parties and events- such as the Local goes Global pop-up shop launch (which we attended). This showcased some incredible Portuguese talent, from fashion to jewellery brands.
Throughout the week there were some standout shows and collections, such as Paul Costelloe, Erdem, AADNEVIK, and Simone Rocha.
Simone Rocha showcased her newest SS22 collection, and celebrated ten years of putting her women’s collection on the runway. Her recognisable soft yet edgy aesthetic caught everyone’s eye once again.
After a lack of fashion shows for the last year and a half, seeing Fashion Week back up and running was a thrill for everyone. The excitement of new collections, and finally being able to wear the newest styles to events, could be felt throughout! We hope to see next season be just as thrilling as this one and can’t wait to bring you all with us.
